My Story
I don't rely on theory alone. My methods were forged in high-stakes environments.
The Origin
My journey didn't start in a suburban park with a bag of treats. It started in the military. I served 20 years, and as a Special Operations Medic I spent over a decade working directly alongside elite Multi-Purpose Canine handlers in United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM). I provided first aid for both assaulters and their canines, and I built extensive veterinary skills caring for those working dogs.
Watching those dogs operate set the standard for how I view dog training today: the sheer precision, the unbreakable bond between handler and K9, the reliability under intense pressure. I learned early on that true reliability isn't built through fear; it's built through crystal-clear communication and mutual respect. Leadership and relationship guide everything we do and every method we use. That principle was seated in me long before I ever trained a pet dog.

Why I Do This
I founded TOP Dog Training LLC in January 2025 because I saw a massive gap in the pet dog industry. Owners were frustrated. Dogs were confused. People were being sold blocks of time that ran out before the problems were actually solved.
My mission is simple: to help you build a reliable, obedient dog so you can have a better life at home. I specialize in simplifying complex behaviors and helping owners make measurable progress. I collaborate directly with local veterinarians on severe behavioral cases because I believe in a holistic, science-backed approach to your dog's well-being.
The work quickly grew beyond individual lessons. Client education, long-term support, and a clearer path for owners became the foundation for Pawprint Academy and the next stage of the mission.
Going National
TOP Dog Training was only the beginning. I launched The Pawprint Academy Podcast to put this knowledge in every owner's ear, and founded Pawprint Academy LLC to make this training available to owners nationwide.
The mission hasn't changed since my first day in uniform: lead, build the relationship, and get the job done.

CPDT-KA Note:
The CCPDT requires at least 300 documented hours of dog training experience, a 180-question exam, agreement to professional standards, and continuing education every three years. Ryan's credential was issued March 28, 2026 and expires June 30, 2029.
